Bet of the day

Over 2.5 goals in Espanyol v Oviedo @ 23/20

Monday’s offering from La Liga is not the finest match-up Spain has to offer as out-of-form Espanyol host rock-bottom Oviedo, but it could be more entertaining than the bare facts sound.

Espanyol remain a misleading seventh in the table but they have not won any of their last nine games, which makes them hard to trust at short odds even in what should be their easiest fixture of the season.

There have been plenty of goals at both ends in their recent matches, though, with the last four producing totals of five, four, six and four, and betting on at least three more in Monday’s game appeals.

There have been over 2.5 goals in five of Oviedo’s last seven matches and they lost 3-0 at Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday.

Bet builder

West Ham v Brentford

  • West Ham to win or draw double chance
  • Both teams to score
  • Jarrod Bowen first goalscorer
  • Bet Builder pays 11/1

West Ham and Brentford round off the FA Cup fifth-round action at the London Stadium on Monday and the home team are worth backing to put up a decent show.

The Hammers have twice needed extra-time to get past QPR and Burton in their two previous games, so a double-chance wager is preferred, but they should have taken confidence from Wednesday’s 1-0 win at Fulham.

Brentford are having a better season overall but they squeezed past non-league Macclesfield 1-0 in the fourth round and have since lost to Brighton, edged out Burnley 4-3 and been held to a draw by Bournemouth, so they look vulnerable.

The Bees have scored in four of their last five away games, though, so take both teams to score, and it could be Jarrod Bowen who gets the scoring started for the home side.

The England man started against QPR in the third round and could be called upon again with a quarter-final place at stake.

Acca

  • Sassuolo to beat Lazio
  • Tondela to beat Rio Ave
  • Alanyaspor to beat Genclerbirligi

Acca pays @ 11/1

Monday’s acca contains matches from three different nations, starting with Sassuolo to upset Lazio on the road in Serie A.

The Roman side were two places below their visitors in 11th place in the table before the weekend action and have won only two of their last 14 matches in all competitions.

Sassuolo, meanwhile, have won five of their last six games with the only defeat coming against leaders Inter.

In Portugal, Tondela can win a key relegation battle in the Primeira Liga against Rio Ave. Tondela are two points below their rivals but are unbeaten in their last five games while Rio Ave have lost six of their last seven matches.

In Turkey, Alanyaspor have a decent chance of ending a spell of mediocre form when they host poor travellers Genclerbirligi, who have lost nine of their 12 away Super Lig games and been beaten on their last three road trips.
