talkSPORT betting tips – Best golf bets and expert advice for Charles Schwab Challenge
The PGA Tour heads to one of its most traditional venues this week when the Charles Schwab Challenge takes place at Colonial Country Club, which has hosted tournaments since 1946.
The course in Fort Worth, Texas is a test of precision and course management and it has been one that Americans have tended to dominate with 15 of the last 18 victors being home competitors.
However, Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg heads the market this year as he attempts to become only the third European to triumph in the final leg of the tour’s stay in the Lone Star State.

Charles Schwab Challenge Betting tips
Aberg can enjoy perfect Colonial debut
Scottie Scheffler finished in the top four in the last four Charles Schwab Challenges, but the world number one has given the competition a swerve this year.
That leaves a vacancy at the top of the market and Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg can justify the favouritism.
The Ryder Cup star makes his Colonial bow this week, but a course where straight play is rewarded and solid iron play is required to attack small greens, the examination looks to be right up his street.
Aberg has finished in the top 10 in six of his last seven tournaments – the exception was his 21st place at The Masters and he was fourth last time out at the US PGA Championship after his opening 72 afforded his competitors a head start.
He is ranked sixth in terms of shots gained with his approach shots and a third PGA Tour triumph beckons against what is not the strongest of fields.
Smalley has moved up a level
Alex Smalley’s best Colonial finish came four years ago when he was 27th on his debut and while he missed the cut last year, he has come on a great deal in the last nine months.
Smalley has missed the cut in just one of his last 14 tournaments and he followed his seventh at the Cadillac Championship and 17th at the Truist Championship with second spot at the US PGA.
He was unable to keep pace with Aaron Rai at Aronimink, but he should be hugely encouraged by that performance and a week’s rest should have done him good, so expect a strong challenge.
Bezuidenhout’s putting can make him a factor
Christiaan Bezuidenhout missed the cut at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson last week, but he was playing well before that with a sixth at the Myrtle Beach Classic and a creditable 35th at the second Major of the year.
Consequently, a trip back to Colonial for one of the most consistent putters on tour will be welcome for the South African as he has form figures of 15-21-17-16 at the Forth Worth venue.
His game looks to be in a good place and there is scope for him to put in another strong showing at a decent price.
