Steelers’ MIke Tomlin confirms Aaron Rodgers status for Sunday

With the Pittsburgh Steelers taking on the Buffalo Bills in a crucial AFC matchup on Sunday, the question around the team has been about the status of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. As Rodgers has been taking huge steps to play for the Steelers, head coach Mike Tomlin announced some good news on Friday.

Tomlin would express that Rodgers no longer carries an injury designation and was a full participant in practice, saying that it is “all systems go,” according to Chris Adamski. Rodgers had missed last weekend’s 31-28 loss against the Chicago Bears due to a wrist injury, though he looks to return and get the team back in the win column.

“He was a full participant today with no designation for the game, so it’s all systems go,” Tomlin said.

The news comes after Rodgers logged another full practice Thursday, along with star wide receiver DK Metcalf, who has been dealing with an ankle injury, via Tom Pelissero.

There had been an expectation that Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers would return

While Rodgers’ injury status for the Steelers’ Week 13 game against the Bills was on everyone’s radar, there is some sigh of relief that he will be back under center.

“I wasn’t able to go last week,” Rodgers said to the media on Wednesday, via 93.7 The Fan. “So I’m hoping for a different outcome this week.”

There was an expectation that Pittsburgh had a feeling that Rodgers’ chances at playing were better than last weekend, as the veteran signal-caller was pushing to play, per reporting by Dan Graziano.

“The Steelers feel better about Aaron Rodgers’ chances of playing this Sunday against the Bills than they did at this time last week about his chances of playing in Chicago,” Graziano wrote on Wednesday. “Talking to people with the Steelers on Saturday and Sunday, I was told the decision about Rodgers playing against the Bears would come down to his own comfort level and whether he felt he could function on the field with that fracture in his left wrist.”

At any rate, Pittsburgh is 6-5 ahead of Sunday’s game against the Bills.
