Skip Bayless blasts LeBron James’ new ‘scapegoat’ for Lakers struggles in Game 3
The Los Angeles Lakers got smoked by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night, to fall behind in their NBA Playoffs series 3-0. Oklahoma City won 131-108. During the contest, sports commentator Skip Bayless took to social media to criticize Lakers star LeBron James.
“As I said yesterday on First Take, LeBron now misses so many shots at the rim that he has lost some respect from the refs, who no longer give him “King” calls. He started out this game 0-8 in the paint,” Bayless posted to X, formerly Twitter.
Bayless has never been one to shy away from commentary. He made a special appearance on Friday on the ESPN show First Take, where he once worked. On the show Friday, he opened up a can of criticism on James.
Bayless went on Saturday night to point out that James will have his teammate Deandre Ayton be the scapegoat for the team’s struggles in Game 3.
“The “GOAT” (James) always needs a scapegoat. Now it will be Ayton … the center the Suns and Blazers gave up on because his effort came and went and whose hands have always been shaky,” Bayless posted.
The Lakers now face elimination at the hands of the Thunder. Los Angeles must find a way to win four games in a row in the playoffs series, in order to advance to the Western Conference Finals.
“We had moments in the first half that were really good for us,” James said about Game 3, per the Associated Press. “In the third quarter, we didn’t knock down shots, we didn’t defend or get stops and allowed them to take us out of the game.”
James finished Game 3 with 19 points, eight assists and six rebounds. He played 37 minutes for the Lakers, and shot 7-for-19 from the floor.
Game 4 of the Lakers-Thunder series is on Monday night.
