Seahawks rumors: Jeremiyah Love’s Notre Dame teammate an option at No. 32, but there’s a ‘safer bet’

Seattle Seahawks GM John Schneider has been remarkably transparent about the team’s strategy heading into the 2026 NFL Draft.

With only four total selections and a significant deficit in draft capital, the reigning Super Bowl champions are more likely to trade out of the No. 32 pick than to stay put.

Schneider has openly stated that their primary goal is to accumulate more picks, especially since the team lacks selections in the middle rounds that are essential for building roster depth.

This need for more draft assets creates an intriguing dilemma at the end of the first round.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano mentioned that while the Seahawks could theoretically target Notre Dame’s Jadarian Price, the explosive teammate of top prospect Jeremiyah Love, the “safer bet” would be to trade down.

Price would fill a major gap in the backfield left by Kenneth Walker III’s departure to the Chiefs and Zach Charbonnet’s recovery from a serious knee injury.

However, the value of the 32nd pick often lies in its fifth-year option, making it a prime target for teams wanting to move back into the first round to secure a quarterback or premium talent.

Supporting this perspective, Peter Schrager’s final mock draft for ESPN predicts a trade between the Seahawks and the Cardinals.

In this scenario, Arizona would move up to the end of the first round to select quarterback Ty Simpson, who is expected to be present in the draft’s green room.

For Seattle, moving back just two spots allows them to add a sixth-round pick to their limited selections while still being in a position to snag high-end talent early on Day 2.

Adam Schefter has confirmed that Schneider is far from the only executive at the end of the round looking to trade back.

Meanwhile, as the Seahawks aim to accumulate picks, the Los Angeles Rams may be planning a bold move in the opposite direction.

Following their NFC Championship loss to Seattle, the Rams are rumored to be considering trading up for Jeremiyah Love.

After an outstanding 2025 season with over 1,300 rushing yards and 21 total touchdowns, Love is viewed as a potential “cherry on top” for a Rams offense looking to maximize its current championship window.
