Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano rules: Number of rounds, weight limit and hexagon cage
Ronda Rousey is set to square off against Gina Carano in a women’s MMA super fight, live on Netflix.
It marks the streaming giant’s first foray into MMA after its recent successes in boxing.

Three of Netflix’s five boxing bouts have been promoted by Jake Paul‘s Most Valuable Promotions (Paul vs Mike Tyson, Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano III, and Paul vs Anthony Joshua).
And that trend will continue with Rousey vs Carano, who compete under the MVP banner in its inaugural MMA event.
The women’s MMA pioneers will lock horns at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on May 16.
It will be Rousey’s (12-2) first bout since being blasted away in 48 seconds by Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in December 2016.
The crushing loss came 13 months after Holly Holm ended her legendary 1,074-day UFC bantamweight title reign with a vicious head kick knockout.
Carano (7-1) has had an even longer layoff than Rousey.
Her last outing was all the way back in August 2009, when Cris Cyborg handed the Hollywood star her first and only defeat in the sport via a first-round TKO.
Why are Rousey and Carano competing in a hexagon?
While Rousey vs Carano is a professionally sanctioned contest under the unified rules of MMA, they will compete on a new fighting surface.
MMA fights are traditionally contested in an octagon cage, but Rousey and Carano will duke it out in a hexagon, implemented to promote more action and less stalling.

“This is for all MMA fans past, present and future. More to come… much more.”
