Rockies’ Mickey Moniak joins club full of legends with monster game vs. Braves

Mickey Moniak joined a legendary class of players in history following his multi-home run performance in the Colorado Rockies’ series finale against the Atlanta Braves on Sunday evening.

Moniak is going through the seventh season of his professional career in the majors, his second with the Rockies. Since joining the team, he has shown solid growth as a hitter, recording the most home runs of his career with 24 in 2025.

It appears that he might be on a mission to surpass that mark this year. In Colorado’s latest contest against Atlanta, Moniak managed to get a pair of homers in the fourth and eighth innings. This meant that he has four games with multi-home runs to his name so far this season. Within the context of the first 35 games of the campaign, he made history to join a legendary class of baseball stars, per analyst Sarah Langs.

“Most multi-homer games in team’s first 35 games of a season: 1959 Harmon Killebrew: 5. 2026 Mickey Moniak: 4. 2001 Carlos Delgado: 4. 1976 Dave Kingman: 4. 1969 Reggie Jackson: 4. 1968 Frank Howard: 4. 1964 Harmon Killebrew: 4. 1951 Gil Hodges: 4,” Langs wrote.

How Mickey Moniak, Rockies played against Braves

Despite Mickey Moniak’s hot start as a home run hitter, it wasn’t enough as the Rockies lost 11-6 on Sunday and suffered a series sweep to the Braves.

Colorado got off to a decent start as the team led 4-3 after four innings. However, the defense regressed over time as Atlanta outscored them 7-3 for the remainder of the series finale.

Colorado fell to a 14-21 record on the season, holding the fourth spot in the NL West Division standings. They are above the San Francisco Giants while trailing the Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Diego Padres.

Going through four consecutive losses, the Rockies will look to get back on the win column in their next series. They remain at home to host three games against the New York Mets as the series opener takes place on May 4 at 5:40 p.m. ET.
