Rick Pitino reveals the lesson all players should take from Knicks Finals win
The New York Knicks are preparing to celebrate their first NBA title since 1973. Certainly, there is plenty to take away from the Knicks on what it took to win the title.
Legendary coach Rick Pitino took to social media to express his takeaway from the world champions that he believes other players should learn from.
“The Knicks should teach every team from high school to college how important work ethic and chemistry are! Pitino posted on X, formerly Twitter. “Besides having the best player in the NBA this year, they had an attitude of never relenting, and never giving up. Amazing run. Champions we can all look up to!

New York was a cohesive unit filled with talented players who relied on each other’s strengths. There was their face in Jalen Brunson, who went on to win the Finals MVP. But other pieces to the puzzle enabled them to gel so well. There was Karl-Anthony Towns, who’s an effective scorer and versatile defender. OG Anunoby, the hero of Game 4 with the last-second tip-in, provided depth to the backcourt. Then the exploits of Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges rounded out a solid core.
Mike Brown allowed them to spice up the offense, turning each player into an effective playmaker.
Thus, fostering an environment of unselifhsness.
Pitino was the head coach for the Knicks from 1987 to 1989. He led the team to a 52-win season in 1988-89. They made it to the playoffs before losing to the Chicago Bulls in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
