Reds’ Terry Francona sends inspiring message amid 4-game losing streak

The Cincinnati Reds are going through a rough stretch of the season, as they’re currently on a four-game losing streak, with their latest coming against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Reds are now 31-33 on the season, and though things are tough right now, manager Terry Francona is keeping his spirits high.

“When it’s the hardest to believe, you have to. When there’s doubt, you have to believe in each other and pick each other up. I told them run the bases with your pants on fire, don’t leave anything on the field. We’re going to get where we want to go. I don’t want this to be a morgue. It’s hard for us right now. A lot of things aren’t going right. We can’t make it better. And we will,” Francona said.

That’s probably the message that the Reds needed in the moment, and the hope is that it can help them to get out of the rut they’re in.

The Reds are also dealing with a few injuries, with one of them being Elly De La Cruz, who has a hamstring strain. He was put on the injured list, but the good news is that he could come back sooner than expected.

“Elly De La Cruz is starting to jog. He’s getting work in, and the next big step will be his MRI on Friday,” Charlie Goldsmith of FOX19 wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

If the Reds can get him back, it might help their chances of getting on the right track.
