Red Sox’s Brayan Bello drops defiant take after demotion to Triple-A

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Brayan Bello was recently demoted to Triple-A amid his difficult season. He pitched to a 6.34 ERA across 12 outings (eight starts) in 2026 with the Red Sox before the demotion. Bello spoke to reporters on Sunday and revealed his mindset after the team’s decision.

“I feel much better today. Feeling like I’m ready to do what I need to do down here so I can go back to the show,” Bello said, via Tommy Cassell. “And you can imagine, just want to be back up there. I’m just ready to put in the work down here so that whenever it’s my time, whatever role they give me at the big league level, I’m able to take full advantage of it.”

Bello endured ups and downs throughout the first few years of his MLB career with the Red Sox. It seemed as if he figured everything out in 2025 though, as he pitched to a strong 3.35 ERA across 29 appearances (28 starts). However, Bello’s performance has been underwhelming so far during the 2026 campaign to say the least.

Perhaps a fresh start at the Triple-A level will help Bello get back on track. Sometimes all players need is a reset before finding their footing once again. Bello certainly still features the potential to make a significant impact with Boston.

For now, the right-handed pitcher is focused on getting back on track at Triple-A. Meanwhile, the Red Sox are set to move forward in their series against the New York Yankees on Sunday.
