Michael Owen believes Arsenal have already wrapped up the league.

With 14 matches left, the Gunners are not looking to repeat the same mistakes they did in previous years.

They narrowly missed out on the title in the last three years, finishing in second place, with Manchester City and Liverpool being able to pip them in the final stages.

Arsenal gave up an eight point lead in the 2022/23 season to Pep Guardiola’s side, who also went on to win the treble (Champions League and Carabao Cup).

On Wednesday morning, Michael Owen, ex-Manchester United and Liverpool player, joined talkSPORT to speak about how easy it is for Arsenal to win the league.

He said: “I don’t think there’s anybody good enough to compete with them this season, even though I don’t think the points total is going to be that good.”

“I think the only teams that could have beaten them at the start of the season were Liverpool and Manchester City, who are obviously faltering.”

“So I think Arsenal certainly will have won it, but they’ve been semi-handed it.”

“I think nobody’s put much pressure on them, so I think the league is nearly wrapped up.”

On Tuesday night, Arsenal were victorious against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, beating them 1-0 at the Emirates (4-2 on aggregate).

This result meant the Gunners are only one step away from winning silverware this season, their first under Arteta since the FA Cup in 2020.

Owen, who already believes Arsenal are going to be champions this season, also backs the side to win the League Cup.

“I think they could win the Carabao Cup, absolutely they could, and then the other two are going to be tough”.

The North London side are still in contention to win the quadruple, after topping the Champions League table and beating Portsmouth in the FA Cup third round.

Arteta’s side has been impressive in Europe, being unbeaten in their campaign with some big results against Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich.

The previous Ballon D’Or winner believes Arsenal will have more competition outside the Premier League.

“All the other teams are going to be focusing on the FA Cup even more now, because the league is almost over.”

“It’s going to salvage their season, so they’ll be putting strong teams out.”

“Then there’s the Champions League, that could be anybody’s, that’s really open this year.”

On talkSPORT, Alan Brazil questioned Owen if there was any chance Arsenal could win all four.

The ex-England striker responded: “No, I don’t think so, but I think they (Arsenal) are special, they’re a very strong side, they’re very efficient.”

On Wednesday night, Manchester City take on Newcastle at the Etihad in the respective semi-final, with the winner taking on Arsenal in the final of the Carabao Cup.
