Premier League Darts – Week 2 prediction
The 2026 Premier League Darts began with a bang last week in Newcastle, with seven-time champion Michael van Gerwen securing his first nightly win in the competition since April 2024, defeating fellow countryman and Premier League debutant Gian van Veen in the final.
Van Veen, runner up at the World Championships in London last month, got some revenge for his defeat at Alexandra Palace by beating the reigning world champion Luke Littler last weekend in his first ever Premier League game, a rematch of this year’s World Championship final.
The 23-year-old reigning European and world youth champion, will be hoping to go one step further on Thursday night in Belgium, and faces a kinder route to the semi final than he did last week.
‘The Giant’ will come up against former world champion Gerwyn Price in the final quarter final of the night, and will take on the winner of Jonny Clayton and Stephen Bunting in the second semi final.
Clayton returned to winning ways last week after a two year absence from the Premier League, averaging 110 in his quarter final win over Premier League debutant Josh Rock before being beaten by Van Veen in the last four, while Bunting fell at the first hurdle to eventual champion Van Gerwen.
All Antwerp eyes will be on Week 2’s opening quarter final clash that sees the top two ranked players in the world go head to head, as Lukes Littler and Humphries battle in a rematch of each of the last two Premier League finals.
The winner of that blockbuster opener will take on the winner of last week’s champion Van Gerwen’s match against 24-year-old World Cup champion Rock, who will be looking for his first ever Premier League victory following his quarter final defeat last week.
With three heavyweights in the top half of the draw this week, the door is very much open for one of the outsiders to make a real push for the victory in Antwerp on Thursday, all four will back themselves, but Price’s strong record against Van Veen could give him the confidence he needs to reach Thursday’s final.
Premier League Darts – Week 2 betting tips
The Price is right
Gerwyn Price was defeated by Luke Humphries in his Premier League opener last week, coming up short in a deciding leg against the defending champion who averaged 105 in the match.
This week sees the Welshman come up against last week’s finalist Gian van Veen, whom the former world champion has a strong record against, having beaten the Dutchman on eight of their nine previous meetings.
Price would then come up against either Clayton, in all-Welsh battle which has seen the former win each of the last nine matches, or Bunting, who Price also got the better of in their most recent meeting in Poland back in July.
I’m backing Michael van Gerwen to reach a second straight final, and if there were to happen, Price has got the better of the Dutchman in two of their last three meetings.
- Gerwyn Price to win Week 2 at 6/1 with BetMGM
Mighty Mike makes it two from two
Michael van Gerwen will be in hugely confident mood following his Week 1 victory in Newcastle last week, his first weekly win in the Premier League since April 2024.
Victory will be a huge weight off the Dutchman’s shoulder after a disappointing Premier League campaign last year, and will come up against Josh Rock in his quarter final in Antwerp, just the Northern Irishman’s second ever match at this stage.
The semi final will be the main test for the seven-time Premier League champion, against one of the top two ranked players in the world, Littler or Humphries, winning his last two meetings with the latter and two of his last four against the former.
- Michael van Gerwen to reach the final at 7/2 with BetMGM
