Pistons’ Tobias Harris speaks up on what made 3-1 comeback stunner possible

After turning in one of the best single-half performances of his career in Game 7 against the Orlando Magic, Tobias Harris’ Detroit Pistons get to live to fight another day as they advance to the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Detroit scored more points in the final three frames than the Magic scored in the game as a whole, even with Paolo Banchero going for 38 points in 42 minutes, and now, Detroit can sit back and wait to see who they play next, the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Toronto Raptors.

Talking to reporters after the game about his team’s ability to come back from a 3-1 start to the series, Harris gave credit to his team, as they were able to come together and execute.

“Yeah, I think, you know, obviously when we got down to 3-1, we turned and looked into ourselves and just to see if we were going to step up to the moment. We just stayed with it. I think we did a great job of blocking out the noise and really just staying connected as a group. Understanding what our main goal was and really just taking one game at a time. And then in each and every game, taking one moment at a time, every quarter, every possession. So I’m extremely proud of this group,” Harris told reporters.

“Resilience all year long, on the road, being down 22 and a half, willing ourselves back, just believing. That’s what this team is about. That’s what this city is about. That’s what our fans are about. And to be able to come in tonight in front of our crowd and get a Game 7 win, it’s a great experience for us as a group. But at the same time, it’s a good moment for us. And after tonight, we turn to the next page, the next stage.”

After averaging just over 13 points per game over the past two regular seasons in Detroit, Harris has taken things up a notch in a major way for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, scoring 21.6 points per game, including 30 in Game 7 alone. While his playoff experience topped off in the second round during his time with the Philadelphia 76ers, Harris will look to break that trend in 2026 with the Pistons, showing that “Bad Boy” basketball truly might be back in Detroit.
