Piers Morgan tells Arsenal fans they can still achieve dream quadruple… with Spurs getting relegated

Arsenal’s hopes for a quadruple ain’t over until it’s over.

Granted, the Gunners may no longer be eligible to win what many would perceive to be the more conventional quadruple.

A 2-0 loss in the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City on Sunday ensured Arsenal’s wait for a first trophy since the FA Cup in 2020 would roll on.

However, unabashed Arsenal supporter Piers Morgan believes the quadruple is still on, but with a twist.

With the Gunners in the mix for the Premier League title, the FA Cup and the Champions League, how else can they complete the quadruple?

Well, according to Morgan, Arsenal can land a full house should Tottenham Hotspur endure the unthinkable and be relegated from the Premier League.

talkSPORT BET have even boosted the odds of that happening from 20/1 to 25/1.

Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast, Morgan revealed how Arsenal supporters in the Bobby Moore Room at Wembley for the Carabao Cup final erupted with glee whenever Nottingham Forest netted against Tottenham on Sunday before he delivered a rousing rally cry in the hopes of inspiring relegation for the Gunners’ local rivals.

“Every time Forest scored, a massive cheer went up in the Bobby Moore Suite,” Morgan said.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen Arsenal fans cheering a rival team’s goals more than we did.

“When they won 3-0, there was almost a standing ovation in the Bobby Moore Suite.

“Obviously, my dream of the quintuple has sadly crumbled. We can now only win the quadruple: Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and Spurs going down. That is still on, Arsenal fans.

“So let us rally together, let’s rally, go forward and win.

“Remember the words of Winston Churchill, let us go forward together. Never give in, we will prevail!”

How Arsenal are still on for the treble

Of those four scenarios, Arsenal winning the Premier League appears the likeliest.

Mikel Arteta’s side sit nine points clear at the top of the table ahead of second-placed Manchester City.

However, the gap could be slashed to just six points with seven games remaining should City win their game in hand.

The Gunners are seeking their first Premier League title since the iconic ‘Invincibles’ campaign from 2003/04.

In the FA Cup, Arsenal are in the quarter-finals and will face Championship side Southampton for a spot in the final four.

By simply making the final eight, it is Arsenal’s best run in the FA Cup since they won it at the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

In the seasons following their last piece of silverware, Arteta’s side has never made it beyond the fourth round in the leading domestic competition.

Arsenal are also in the last eight of the Champions League, with a two-legged tie against Portuguese side Sporting to come.

The Gunners are yet to win a major European trophy, although they came close to ending the drought in 2019 when they finished runners-up in the Europa League to Chelsea.

Should Arsenal beat Sporting to reach the Champions League semi-finals for a second season running, a clash against Barcelona or Atletico Madrid would await.

However, the joy derived from winning one, two or indeed all three trophies still up for grabs may not surpass the pleasure Arsenal fans would take in seeing Tottenham get relegated.

1: Premier League Fixtures & Results

Spurs last endured the ignominy of relegation in 1977, but should lightning strike twice nearly 50 years later, it would be far more humiliating.

They couldn’t… could they?

Igor Tudor’s side sit 17th in the league with 30 points, one above 18th-placed West Ham United.

The remaining fixtures for Tottenham are not kind, either.

Of the club’s last seven league matches this term, three are against teams in the top eight who are chasing European football.

Tottenham must also face Leeds United, who are one of their rivals in the battle for Premier League survival.

It’s highly unlikely Arsenal supporters will get to enjoy the dream scenario of all four eventualities becoming reality.

But, with Morgan’s version of a quadruple very much alive, perhaps Gunners supporters can afford to fantasise about what could be.
