Patrick Mahomes puts NFL on notice with workout video exactly 100 days since ACL surgery
Patrick Mahomes is well and truly on the mend.
The three-time MVP tore his ACL and LCL in the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 15 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers — a double blow that ultimately led to Kansas City missing the playoffs for the first time in the Mahomes era.

Mahomes has been adamant he will be back for Week 1 of the 2026 season, an unusually fast turnaround for such a severe injury, but the Chiefs have reinforced their QB room just in case.
They have added two quarterbacks this offseason – signing Jake Haener to a reserve/futures contract and acquiring Justin Fields from the New York Jets.
Despite the down year in 2025, a healthy Mahomes is a worrying sight for the rest of the NFL.
Exactly 100 days since he went under the knife, Mahomes posted a video to social media showing himself on the field throwing the ball, appearing to be well ahead in his recovery.
In the four-second clip, posted on Instagram, Mahomes dropped back at a moderate tempo while wearing a compression sleeve on his left knee before unleashing the ball down-field.
“Day by Day!” Mahomes captioned the post.
“Felt great being able to throw the ball around today.”
A month after the surgery, which was performed by the Dallas Cowboys’ head team physician, Mahomes said his hope was to be in uniform for the Chiefs’ season-opener.
Whether it’s Mahomes completing his stunning return, or it’s the newly-acquired Fields or Haener under cetner, the Chiefs will be hoping they can climb back to the top of the NFL in 2026.

With a familiar face returning to the coaching staff, they hope they can achieve that goal with ease.
Kansas City announced that last year’s offensive coordinator Matt Nagy would not return to Arrowhead, instead bringing Eric Bieniemy back in.
Bieniemy spent 10 seasons working with head coach Andy Reid, first serving as the Chiefs’running backs coach from 2013-17 before taking over as OC in 2018.
2018 happened to be the first season that Mahomes was starting games for the Chiefs, and under Bieniemy’s guidance, he established himself as the franchise QB.
Mahomes went on to win MVP that season after racking up an incredible 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns en route to the AFC Championship.

Both Mahomes and Kelce have highly endorsed Bienemy, and his return could be what the Chiefs need to return to the Super Bowl after a down 2025.
Kelce opted against retirement for a second-straight offseason, returning for a 14th NFL season on a one-year deal.
His return will be a huge boost for Mahomes when he eventually returns.
