Pat Riley leaves Heat fans with less faith than ever says Dan Le Batard

Following the Miami Heat’s loss to the Hornets in the NBA Play-In, fans have been wondering what the future holds. While the team was formidable to start the regular season, the Heat cooled off as the season went on and ultimately found themselves outside of the hunt for a top-six seed. Now, fans wait for what the future holds.

But, per radio host Dan Le Batard, Heat fans are losing their patience with Pat Riley.

“They’re going to reinvent it from here. This is unusual though because there’s less faith in them to do it than at any time that I can remember this management team being in place from the very beginning. And you’ve got your mythical icon at the top of your franchise. People are reacting to him like he’s Joe Biden. That’s not something that I’ve experienced before because I know the resume of what that human being is and it’s disrespectful to make him, grandpa forgot how to play basketball,” he said on his podcast.

Pat Riley has brought immense success to the Miami Heat in his tenure with the team, both as a coach and executive. He stepped back on the sidelines to coach the 2005-2006 Miami Heat to an NBA Championship, overcoming a 2-0 deficit to the Dallas Mavericks in the process. He also built the LeBron James, Dwayne Wade-led Miami Heat rosters that made four NBA Finals and won two championships. His acquisition of Jimmy Butler led the Heat to two more NBA Finals in 2020 and 2023.

But the team has struggled mightily since their historic run to the 2023 NBA Finals, where they faced Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. Can Riley soothe the anxieties of the Heat faithful and build a contender?
