OG Anunoby who? Miles McBride’s nuclear Game 4 Knicks start is out of control
The New York Knicks are trying to sweep the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, in the NBA Playoffs. The Knicks are a man down as forward OG Anunoby is out due to an injury. In his place, New York guard Miles McBride is picking up the slack.
McBride hit six threes in the first half for New York against Philadelphia on Sunday, per ESPN. The young guard, who played his college basketball at West Virginia, is getting a chance to show what he can do.
The Knicks lead heading into the locker room at halftime against Philadelphia. McBride finished the first half with 20 points. He shot a scorching 6-for-7 from three-point range.
During the regular season, McBride averaged 12 points a game. He shot better than 42 percent from the field. Against the 76ers in this playoffs series, the New York guard was previously playing a limited role.
Anunoby meanwhile was listed as questionable on Sunday, before he ultimately was downgraded to out. He also missed Game 3 for New York, due to a hamstring strain. It appears at time of writing that New York isn’t missing his production.
The Knicks can return to the Eastern Conference Finals, if they hold on to defeat Philadelphia on Sunday. New York enters Sunday as the hottest team in the Eastern Conference. The club has six straight wins after also picking up three consecutive victories to close out the Atlanta Hawks.
New York leads Philadelphia 3-0 in their Eastern Conference semifinal series. The 76ers must come from behind on Sunday to win, then win three more consecutive games to advance.
The other Eastern Conference semifinal pits the Cleveland Cavaliers against the Detroit Pistons. In that series, Detroit currently leads 2-1.
