Nuggets’ Christian Braun roasted for wild ‘leader of team’ take after disaster series

The Denver Nuggets recently saw their season come to a devastating end with a Game 6 loss on the road to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Making matters worse for the Nuggets was the fact that the Timberwolves were playing without several key players down the stretch of this series, including star Anthony Edwards.

One of the many Nuggets players who struggled in this matchup was Christian Braun, who didn’t do much on either side of the ball, but that didn’t stop him from giving an interesting perspective on his status on the team recently.

“I just think I’m the leader of this team. I’m the vocal leader of this team. I didn’t play well enough as an individual, and I didn’t have this team ready enough to play in a tough series,” said Braun, per Bennett Durando of The Denver Post, via Legion Hoops on X, formerly Twitter.

Needless to say, fans on X in the comment section had plenty to say about the “leader of the team” remark.

“If this guy is their leader, they’re in worse shape than I thought,” wrote one fan.

“Well this certainly explains why they lost. If he the vocal leader then it was ggs before the ball was tipped,” added another.

Braun signed a massive contract extension last offseason that is starting to look like one of the worst deals in the NBA. Braun’s three-point shot abandoned him for the most part this season, and his defense, once thought of as a strength, has also come under increased scrutiny considering the amount of money he is making.

Braun will need to get a lot better this offseason in order to come close to justifying the mammoth contract moving forward.
