NHL rumors: Panthers have made a trade offer for Red Wings’ Dylan Larkin
There are several NHL clubs who are looking at Detroit Red Wings star Dylan Larkin this offseason. Larkin has reportedly asked to leave the Red Wings, after many years with that team. The latest team involved is the Florida Panthers, per Sportsnet.
The Panthers have reportedly made an offer to acquire Larkin, Elliotte Friedman reported on The Fan Hockey Show. Details aren’t known about what is being proposed. Other teams are also involved for Larkin.
“While it was initially reported that Larkin submitted a list of three teams he would accept a trade to, TFP’s David Pagnotta has reported that Florida, Vegas and Minnesota are his three preferred destinations and other clubs, such as Dallas and Utah, are believed to also be in play,” The Fourth Period reported.
Larkin has spent his entire NHL career with the Red Wings. He is a spark-plug on offense; he finished the 2025-26 campaign with 34 goals and 67 points.
In his career, the Detroit center has posted 643 points. He has appeared in 808 NHL games. He clearly brings a lot of experience and leadership to a locker room.
The Red Wings have not been successful, however. Detroit missed the postseason yet again in 2025-26. The Red Wings haven’t made the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 2016. That was Larkin’s first season with the team.
Larkin would certainly add a lot of pop to any NHL team, including the Panthers. Unlike Detroit, Florida has had a lot of success recently. The Panthers won the last two Stanley Cup championships.
Florida didn’t make the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2025-26, though. That certainly has the franchise looking for ways to add some strength to the roster.
“The Panthers own the ninth-overall pick in this month’s NHL Draft and may try to package that with other assets for a player like Larkin,” The Fourth Period reported.
Time will tell if Larkin does indeed leave Detroit this NHL offseason.
