Draymond Green says Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama ‘should be suspended,’ but he’s not mad about it
Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green believes San Antonio Spurs All-Star Victor Wembanyama should have been suspended for his flagrant foul on New York Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Town in Game 4 of the Finals, but understands why the NBA didn’t make the difficult decision. Heading into Game 5, Wembanyama is one flagrant-foul away from a suspension, as the Spurs enter Saturday night’s matchup on the brink of elimination, trailing the Knicks 3-1.
This comes after Wembanyama avoided a flagrant foul for shoving Knicks All-Star Jalen Brunson in Game 3. Still, Green commended the NBA for not suspending Wembanyama, per the Draymond Green Show.
“He probably should be suspended at some point or have been already. He’s been shown a lot of grace, but I agree with the grace,” Green said. “We want to see Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs versus the New York Knicks. Not the San Antonio Spurs sans Victor Wembanyama verus the New York Knicks. So, I agree.
“And I wish the NBA would just come out and say yeah, most cases this probably should be a suspension, but it’s not because we want our best in the NBA Finals, and that’s the way it should be. And I agree with that.”
For Green, the NBA was doing its best to not disappoint diehard fans taking in Wembanyama’s first Finals appearance.
“That’s a business decision,” Green added. “And I’m sorry to tell you all. I know I probably should be like ‘man, that’s bulls***’ — that’s the right decision.”
The Spurs will look to keep their season alive in beating the Knicks in Game 5 to force a Game 6 back at Madison Square Garden.
Victor Wembanyama’s honest take on Game 4 collapse versus Knicks

Spurs All-Star Victor Wembanyama says the Spurs have moved on from blowing a 29-point lead in the Knicks’ historic and emphatic Game 4 victory. However, Wembanyama knows his team has to focus on winning the next game, and says the time to dwell on their shortcomings is in their rearview mirror, per SNY.
“Of course, there were 1,000 ways that we could have not lost that game,” Wembanyama said. “But it feels like there was a time to process that and really dwell on it, but not anymore.”
The Spurs will host the Knicks in Game 5 on Saturday.
