NFL mock draft 2026: San Francisco 49ers select Omar Cooper Jr., WR, Indiana
Welcome back to another year of the SB Nation Community Mock Draft!
As we do every draft season, all 32 NFL sites at SB Nation come together to fill out an entire first-round mock draft leading up to the actual event that takes place from April 23-25. One by one, our site managers will make their picks and provide their reasoning behind the selection. From there, I will provide further analysis on top of giving a final opinion on the pick!
Without further ado, let’s keep things rolling!
With the 27th overall pick in the 2026 SB Nation Community Mock Draft, Niners Nation’s Nicholas McGee and the San Francisco 49ers select Omar Cooper Jr., wide receiver, Indiana!
McGee’s analysis:
My analysis: Kyle Shanahan can never have too many wide receivers for him to utilize. He likes having a bit of a basketball team as far as the room makeup and right now he’s already got his power forward in Mike Evans and point guard in Ricky Pearsall. If Christian Kirk can be a quality shooting guard, then Cooper Jr. could be the team’s stretch forward who can do a bit of everything.
Didn’t follow all of that basketball nonesense? That’s ok. Just know that the 49ers will be very much okay using their first-rounder on another wideout even though you could argue there are other needs higher on the priority list. The defense will once again be good and as long as Brock Purdy plays up to his normal level, the Niners will once again be a force in the NFC.
