Bournemouth boss Iraola has confirmed that he will be leaving the Dorset club at the end of the season following the expiration of his contract after three years in charge.

The Spaniard joined the Premier League club back in 2023 after spending the previous three years with La Liga side Rayo Vallecano.

The 43-year-old took over a Cherries side who had just finished 15th in their first season back in the top flight under Gary O’Neil, and broke the club record for most points won in a top flight campaign, before equalling the club’s highest ever league finish (9th) last time out.

Iraola’s time is far from up as Bournemouth manager, with the club still with six matches to play this season and currently just two points away from a top seven finish, which would result in the club qualifying for European competition for the first time in their history.

It’s reported that despite the board’s best efforts to tie the former Spain international down to a new contract, an agreement couldn’t be made and the hierarchy at the club are already on the search for a successor.

Current Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna is the current favourite to replace Iraola at the Vitality Stadium.

The Northern Irishman has been in charge at Portman Road since December 2021, and delivered back to back promotions from League One into the Premier League, the club’s first season in the top flight in 23 years.

After relegation back into the Championship, the 39-year-old currently has the Suffolk side well placed for an instant return to the Premier League, currently sat second in the table, two points clear of third in the automatic promotion places and with two games in hand at the time of writing.

McKenna, who spent as Manchester United’s assistant manager prior to his move to East Anglia, has impressed since making the switch to senior permanent management, and been linked to several top jobs over the last couple of years.

There’s a three-way tie for second place in the odds list to be named Bournemouth manager for next season, one of the which is the current USA manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine’s contract in the States comes to a close at the end of the 2026 World Cup, leaving lots of speculation for a return to club football next season.

The 54-year-old has previously managed Southampton, Tottenham and Chelsea in the Premier League, taking Spurs to the final of the Champions League on 2019, and has also won the league and cup with PSG in France.

Ange Postecoglou has got to know the Premier League quite well over the last few seasons after spending two years in charge of Tottenham before a short-lived spell at Nottingham Forest earlier this season.

The Australian has been out of a job since his sacking after just eight games at the City Ground back in October, and is rumoured to be of interest to Bournemouth’s hierarchy to bring him back to the Premier League.

The 53-year-old has previously won league titles in Australia, Japan and Scotland, and last season saw him end Tottenham’s 17-year wait for a trophy as the club got their hands on the Europa League trophy.

Marco Rose is the third and final name priced at 6/1 to take over at the Vitality Stadium in the summer.

The German manager has been without a job since leaving Leipzig after nearly three years in charge in March last year, and has previously managed Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach and Salzburg.

The 49-year-old has never managed outside of Germany or Austria before, but does carry success from his previous roles, winning two league titles and a domestic cup in the latter before winning the German Cup with Leipzig in 2023.

Other notable names being linked further down the odds list for the Bournemouth job include former Tottenham and Brentford boss Thomas Frank, current Newcastle and former Cherries manager Eddie Howe, and ex-Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic, who are all priced at 8/1.
