Nets projected to select Mikel Brown Jr. in latest NBA mock draft
The Brooklyn Nets will continue their search for a franchise player at the 2026 NBA Draft. While falling to the No. 6 pick will complicate that pursuit, the rebuilding squad will have several talented players to choose from on June 23.
Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman projected the Nets to take Louisville guard Mikel Brown Jr. with their top selection.
“With the No. 6 pick, you can bet on the Brooklyn Nets trying to trade into the top four or five. Regardless, they’ll be thinking best player available over needs wherever they pick,” Wasserman wrote in his latest mock draft. “Mikel Brown Jr. had a positive showing at the NBA combine, measuring 6’3½” barefoot and a 6’7½” wingspan before putting on a Pro Day shooting clinic in front of every NBA team. The Brooklyn Nets will presumably like to bring in Kingston Flemings and Keaton Wagler. But Brown could wind up looking more enticing with superior three-point shotmaking firepower and rim pressure than Flemings and quicker-twitch movement and playmaking than Wagler.”
Brown is one of several guards in the Nets’ draft range, alongside Illinois’ Keaton Wagler, Arkansas’ Darius Acuff Jr. and Houston’s Kingston Flemings.
Will Mikel Brown Jr. be the Nets’ pick with No. 6 pick in 2026 NBA Draft?

The Louisville guard entered the year as a projected top-five pick for many analysts. However, a back injury limited him to just 21 games during his freshman campaign. Still, Brown flashed star potential, averaging 18.2 points and 4.7 assists on .410/.344/.844 shooting splits.
While his scoring efficiency left something to be desired, the 20-year-old has unlimited shooting range, attempting a whopping 14.7 threes per 100 possessions. His quick first step allowed him to get downhill consistently, and his 38.5-inch max vertical helped him to shoot 65.3 percent at the rim. Brown showcased high-level playmaking ability, posting a 30.3 assist percentage, but he will need to clean up his decision-making after averaging 3.1 turnovers per game.
Brown met with the Nets at the draft combine in Chicago.
“It would be a great opportunity [in Brooklyn],” he told ClutchPoints following the meeting. “Just continuing to build relationships with them as time goes on and continue to talk to my family, my circle, and my agent, obviously, and the people behind me. It’s something that we’re definitely interested in and looking forward to building a relationship with [the Nets].”
