NBA rumors: Insider reveals Heat’s Giannis trade offer to Bucks but there’s 1 problem

With Giannis Antetokounmpo rumored to be available via trade this offseason, rumors reveal that the Miami Heat may have already sent an offer to the Milwaukee Bucks. However, one insider points out why the deal can’t be made right now.

NBA editor Gery Woelfel claimed that the Heat offered a large trade package to the Bucks, consisting of Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, the No. 13 pick, and two future first-round picks.

“The Heat are the odds-on favorite to land Antetokounmpo in a trade. Here is the package some NBA officials told me the Heat is offering the Bucks,” said Woelfel… “Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware… This year’s 13th overall pick, which should be a potential starter, and two future firsts. The latter pair will likely be late first-rounders.”

While that may sound like an enticing deal to Bucks fans, it turns out that, as that deal stands, it would not be able to go through, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. The finances do not match, and the Heat cannot offer more than three players. So, Miami would have to make some changes to this rumored offer to the Bucks.

“This participate trade would not satisfy cap rules,” said Jackson. “Heat must send out at least $46.6 M in a trade for Giannis (and no other players). These 3 combine for $43.5 M. Niko Jovic salary would help facilitate this, but there are other paths, certainly.”

At the very least, we are looking at the framework of what it may cost the Heat, as well as any other franchise, to obtain Giannis Antetokounmpo in a trade. More rumors may emerge in the coming days. Especially with the 2026 NBA Draft quickly approaching.
