Mike Brown’s crucial adjustment for Knicks catches Kenny Atkinson’s attention

The New York Knicks are set to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Leading up to the contest, Cavs head coach Kenny Atkinson noticed an adjustment Mike Brown made for the Knicks during the playoffs. Hours before tip-off, Atkinson praised Brown for his smart decision-making.

While talking with media members on Tuesday, Atkinson admitted that Brown’s decision to turn Karl-Anthony Towns into a playmaker was an incredibly smart one, according to insider Kris Pursianen. Atkinson claims that switching things up like that is a sign of Brown’s experience working as a head coach in the NBA.

“Kenny Atkinson credited Mike Brown for Knicks’ shift toward KAT as a playmaker,” reported Pursianen. “Said Brown already had ‘corporate knowledge’ of that kind of offense from [Domantas] Sabonis. ‘I think that’s why you hire an experienced coach, right?’ asked Atkinson, ‘That’s kind of seen it all. That was a really good shift.'”
