Michael Olise theory emerges amid reports of mega £138million Real Madrid offer

Michael Olise is unlikely to leave Bayern Munich this summer despite reported interest from Real Madrid.

That is the view of European football journalist Andy Brassell after the Spanish giants were tipped for a move.

Brassell admits it is ‘hard to imagine’ Bayern parting ways with Olise at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old has three years remaining on his deal after joining the club from Crystal Palace in 2024.

However, Bild reported on Sunday that Real Madrid have shown an interest in Olise.

The Frenchman is said to have Los Blancos club president Florentino Perez amongst his admirers.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are even rumoured to be willing to pay £138million to sign the winger in the summer.

Taking the Mich?

Though Brassell believes Olise has less reason to leave Bayern for their Champions League rivals than at any point in the last five to ten years.

Asked if the Bundesliga champions would sell him, he told talkSPORT.com: “No, they won’t if they can help it. I don’t think they will.

“I find it hard to imagine at the moment, and maybe I’m being slightly disingenuous, I find it hard to imagine that any club really could lure him away at the moment, because he’s having a brilliant time.

“He’s developing into one of the very best players in the world, he is very well paid.

“His next contract, which they will get in as soon as they can, will make him even more highly paid, they absolutely love him there.

“Really, Bayern have helped turn him from a very good streets-will-never-forget Premier League player into an actual global star.

“I don’t know if global star is the right expression because of his demeanour and the fact that he’s quite shy, I think might stop him from ever becoming that superstar.

“He works for Bayern, I think. Why would you leave the stability of what they’ve got at the moment to probably not even get a pay rise at Real Madrid and certainly not be in a position where you’re guaranteed to win stuff?

“I know Real Madrid is a very, very attractive club on so many levels.

“But there is probably less reason to ditch Bayern for Real Madrid than there has been at any point in the last five to ten years, I would say.

“He’s going to be eclipsing Thomas Muller‘s season record in terms of assists. 23 assists in all competitions. It’s incredible.

“He’s going to be top 20 in the Bundesliga alone unless something really bad happens to him between this concession and when he next plays.

“He’s in a situation as well where he is going to be an absolute key player for France at the World Cup this summer.”

Olise has scored 15 goals and provided 27 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions this season.

Those include 19 Bundesliga assists already this term with eight matches still to play.

Olise transfer theory

Brassell believes there may be truth to the reported interest in Olise from elsewhere.

However, he adds the cost of any potential deal is beyond those linked with signing the forward.

Instead, he has a theory for the transfer speculation, admitting: “Firstly, other elite clubs would be negligent if they didn’t have an interest in him.

“But I do think it’s notable that stories of other clubs being interested in him, even clubs who Olise is beyond their means, are mentioned in media outlets of having an interest in him.

“If this wasn’t happening, his agent wouldn’t be doing his job because he needs to be getting him an absolutely massive pay rise.”

As well as having three years remaining, Olise’s contract does not contain a release clause.

It follows his £50million switch to Bayern from Palace two years ago.

He has since won both the Bundesliga and German Super Cup with the club.
