Michael Carrick gives update after England World Cup hopefuls go off during Man United win
Michael Carrick is hopeful Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire will not be out for long after both went off during Manchester United’s win on Sunday.
Shaw was replaced by Noussair Mazraoui at Old Trafford as Carrick had to make a change on 24 minutes.

The 30-year-old had started every game under Carrick’s interim spell that has seen them pick up six wins out of seven in the Premier League.
Shaw has started every Premier League game for United this season, enjoying one of his longest injury-free spells for some time.
No United player had played more minutes for the club this season than Shaw.
Injury concerns
Daniel Munoz stepped on Shaw’s ankle causing the United player to need medical treatment.
It was deemed he could not continue as he hobbled off the Old Trafford pitch.
Meanwhile, Maguire walked off late in the game to be replaced by Ayden Heaven on 85 minutes.
Carrick update
United boss was asked about both Shaw and Maguire post-match with the interim boss confirming both players had been feeling unwell.
“Not feeling too well,” Carrick said.
When asked Shaw and Maguire’s issues were ‘nothing too sinister’, Carrick responded: “No, I hope not. It doesn’t seem like it. It was just a bit of an illness.”

United went on to win the game 2-1 with a Bruno Fernandes penalty cancelling out Maxence Lacroix’s opener.
Lacroix was sent off himself in that incident for pulling back Matheus Cunha.
Benjamin Sesko went on to get the winner for the Red Devils to continue their brilliant run of form.
World Cup worry?
Shaw has been pushing for a place in England’s World Cup squad this summer having not played for his country since starting the Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain 19 months ago.
The 34-cap international has not been selected by Thomas Tuchel yet, but his reliability this season for United saw him be tipped as a potential inclusion.
Shaw has missed more than 300 games for club and country due to injury since arriving in 2014.

Asked whether the England door is still open, Shaw told talkSPORT in February: “Oh, of course, you would never shut it.
“I’ve had some amazing memories with England, played in the last two European Championship finals, and I feel like I’ve been a big part of that.
“So yeah, of course I’ll never shut that door, especially now when I feel like you know my fitness is at a really good level and I think the manager of England knows what I can bring and what I can do.
“So, for me, it’s just what I need to do is just keep playing games, keep fit, and whatever happens happens.”
On whether Tuchel has spoken to him about an England recall, Shaw added: “No, I don’t know, we haven’t spoken too much about that.
“Hopefully, we can have a conversation soon, and look, whatever happens, I’ll respect his decision. I’ll always respect it.

“I think the only thing I can do is focus on what I’m doing for Manchester United at the moment, and if a call-up comes, it comes, and if it doesn’t, it doesn’t.
“I just get on with performing for Manchester United, as of course that is my club, and I want to do well for them.”
