Martin Brundle stunned by Jimmy Fallon’s bizarre act during Miami Grand Prix grid walk

Martin Brundle’s grid walk at the Miami Grand Prix was full of chaos once again.

Formula 1 made its long-awaited return after a four-week absence with the world’s best 22 drivers taking to the streets of Miami.

After reigning world champion Lando Norris claimed victory at the sprint race for McLaren, it was 19-year-old Italian Kimi Antonelli who put his Mercedes on pole position for the main event.

Ahead of Sunday’s race, which was brought forward by three hours due to the risk of thunderstorms, Brundle conducted his usual grid walk.

Featuring the likes of NBA star Bam Adebayo – fresh off a season in which he made history by scoring 83 points for the Miami Heat – and actor Patrick Dempsey, things took a wild turn when Brundle encountered Jimmy Fallon.

To say that the American talk show host was delighted to be interviewed by the British broadcaster would be an understatement.

“Oh my God! Martin Brundle! What do you need? Can I get anything for you?,” Fallon said excitedly when Brundle approached him on the grid.

“I need some funny lines. I need everything. A cup of British tea,” Brundle replied.

Before he could even finish his sentence, Fallon grabbed the microphone from his hands and proceeded to eat the microphone sock.

“What do we do here? You’re the best,” Fallon said before returning it to the stunned broadcaster.

“You can keep that,” Brundle said.

The two then proceeded to talk about how it was Fallon’s first time at the Miami Grand Prix, and that he was supporting Max Verstappen and Red Bull.

“I was hoping to see you. This is the highlight [of the weekend] right here,” Fallon added.

“He’s well-versed isn’t he?” Brundle added, while awkwardly walking away as Fallon continued to spout praise his way.

“Do not take my mic sock again. Bye.”

Fans left in disbelief

Fans took to social media, with many left stunned, like Brundle, by the bizarre moment.

“Did I just witness Jimmy Fallon eat Martin Brundle’s microphone??? I’m the first in my bloodline to say that statement #MiamiGP,” one fan posted to X (formerly Twitter).

“Why the hell did Jimmy Fallon just do that LMAOO,” a second wrote, as a third added: “WTF Jimmy Fallon.”
