Mark DeRosa drops Brewers’ Jacob Misiorowski ‘freak of nature’ truth bomb

As Milwaukee Brewers star Jacob Misiorowski takes the next steps in his career amidst a stupendous season, there is no denying that there are worries about his health in the long-term with the heat he’s throwing. As the Brewers’ All-Star in Misiorowski will continue to be a talking point, Mark DeRosa would explain what makes him stand out besides how fast his pitches are.

Speaking on “The Pat McAfee Show” on ESPN, the Team USA manager and former player would say how much of a “freak of nature” Misiorowski is as it relates to his pitches on fastball counts.

“I think we’ll see guys eventually get to that miles per hour. But he is a freak of nature, what we’re watching right now,” DeRosa said. “The ability, the extension, and its 103, 104, and the extension’s making it look even hotter. He’s getting swings from big league hitters on heaters in heater counts that you just don’t see.”

DeRosa would delve deep into what he means by Misiorowski controlling even “heater counts,” as, despite the opponent expecting the fastball, opposing batters still get overwhelmed by pitches going up to 103 miles per hour.

“So when you get in a 1-0, 2-0, 3-1 count, it’s you’re usually getting a heater because they got to get back in the count,” DeRosa said. “And when you know you’re getting a heater and they’re still blowing it by you, it’s playing differently than everybody else’s because you’re licking your chops.”

“If I’m in a three-one count and I look on deck, and I know I got like a Hall of Famer up behind me,” DeRosa continued. “I’ve had Josh Beckett in a 2-0 count look at the camera and go, like maybe the catcher puts a slider down, and he’d go, like, getting a four-seam cheeser right down your throat, and it’s like, all right, let’s go, let’s cheat to it.”

So far this season, Misiorowski is throwing a 1.62 ERA to go along with 167 strikeouts and a 10-4 record, as it remains to be seen how his career in Milwaukee progresses.
