Luke Humphries has big windfall on first Cheltenham race
Luke Humphries is a winner on and off the oche.
‘Cool Hand’ was one of several thousands who descended on Cheltenham for the first day of the iconic festival and will head home with a heavy wallet.

That’s because Humphries successfully backed a winner in the very first race.
Which horse did Humphries back and how much did he win?
The former world darts champion got behind Old Star Park to the tune of £1,000.
Luckily for Humphries, the Irish horse ridden by Nico De Boinville finished first past the post.
Thanks to the darts star’s wager, he won a tidy £3,250.
Old Park Star beat Sober Glory and Mydaddypaddy, who came second and third respectively.
But, in a pleasing twist, Humphries won’t be keeping the money for himself.
Instead, he shared on Instagram he’d be donating it to charity.
Humphries’ unique arrival at Cheltenham
It was a dream start to the festival for Humphries, who arrived at the event in style.
As some punters battled train delays, Humphries took to the skies via a helicopter.
He then got to the racecourse in a luxurious van with plush leather seats.

Humphries wasn’t the only darts star who attended the opening day of Cheltenham.
‘Cool Hand’ was joined at the races by two-time world champion Luke Littler and Nathan Aspinall.
Littler sported a suit made by Warrington-based boutique Wife To Be.
‘The Nuke’ also shared happy snaps of himself and his girlfriend Faith Millar lapping up the occasion to his Instagram.
Perhaps Littler will ask his Premier League peer for some tips to boost his bank balance even more.
Luckily for Littler, he won’t be desperate to pick a winner given he pocketed a whopping £1million for his latest world championship triumph in January.
