Lionel Messi puts Argentina up 1-0 with smooth goal vs. Algeria
Of course, it’s Lionel Messi, who delivered Argentina’s first goal in the 2026 edition of the FIFA World Cup.
At 38 years old, Messi continues to show the whole world that he still has it, as the face of Argentina football put his team up 1-0 against Algeria in a Group Stage match on Tuesday night at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
Here is a video of that goal from the Inter Miami superstar:

Rodrigo De Paul surely deserves praise for his pass to Messi, who found himself with plenty of space to operate on his way to netting the reigning and defending World Cup champions’ first goal of the tournament.
