Lamar Jackson not at Ravens OTAs, but he has legit excuse
The Baltimore Ravens’ OTAs are underway as the club prepares for the 2026-27 season under new head coach Jesse Minter. While Lamar Jackson has not been attending OTAs so far, it appears it is not a problem for Minter.
When asked about the 29-year-old quarterback’s absence, Minter claimed that Jackson has still been a leader for the organization throughout the offseason, according to Jamison Hensley of WBAL Radio. Minter wouldn’t reveal the exact reason why Jackson is not attending OTAs, but did claim he knows when Jackson will eventually return to the team. At the very least, Minter and Jackson seem to be on the same page.
“Lamar’s been one of our leaders of the offseason program,” said Minter. “He’s got a couple of things going on yesterday and today. I do expect him to be back soon. We’ve had some great conversations. [I] know when he’s gonna be back, and again, I’ll probably leave [the reason why] between me and Lamar.”
Ravens coach Jesse Minter said Lamar Jackson has been “one of our leaders in the offseason.”

While Minter is fielding questions about Jackson’s absence, OTAs are voluntary. Technically speaking, the eight-year veteran does not have to attend OTAs with the Ravens right now. However, considering Minter, who is 43 years old, is the new head coach, having the superstar quarterback attend OTAs would be ideal. But it doesn’t sound like the former defensive coordinator is too concerned about it.
Lamar Jackson is coming off a frustrating campaign where he only played 13 games due to a string of lower-body injuries, a back injury, and illness. He and the Ravens also missed out on the playoffs last season. Jackson has reached the postseason in five of his eight seasons in the NFL.
The two-time MVP finished the 2025-26 campaign with 2,549 passing yards, 349 rushing yards (career-low), and 23 total touchdowns (21 passing, 2 rushing). He also completed just 63.6% of his pass attempts, which is the third worst of his career.
