Lakers’ LeBron James could retire after this year, according to Draymond Green
LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers will look to eliminate the Houston Rockets in Game 5 of their first-round series at Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday via a gentleman’s sweep.
James will aim to bounce back after his mediocre showing in their loss in Game 4, wherein he only had 10 points on 2-of-9 field goals.
Before the dud, the 41-year-old James had been impressive in carrying the Lakers without Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, who are out with a hamstring injury and an oblique injury, respectively.
But despite still playing at a high level, many have speculated that James will retire at the end of the season, regardless of the outcome for the Purple and Gold.
Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors is among those who believe that calling it quits is likely for James, as he stated in the teaser for the latest episode of “Post Moves With Candace Parker.”
“This could be the last time we see this. LeBron could retire after this year,” said Green.
Over the years, the topic of hanging his jersey has been a recurring one for the future Hall of Famer, with critics claiming that Father Time had caught up. But every season, James has proven them wrong.
The four-time MVP has remained vague about his future. He, however, has developed a close relationship with Green, including hanging out and vacationing together, so the veteran forward may know something that many do not. They are also part of the same agency.
In the meantime, James is busy trying to finish off the Rockets. Safe to presume, riding off into the sunset is far from his mind.
