Kon Knueppel’s brother takes a step closer to joining Duke
Charlotte Hornets budding star Kon Knueppel isn’t the only hooper in his family, and his younger brother might carry on the Duke tradition within the next
Kager Knueppel was recently offered by Duke, the alma mater of his older brother Kon Knueppel, as per John Watson of 247 Sports. He becomes the first player from the 2027 class to receive an offer from the Blue Devils.
Kager is currently playing with Team Herro on the EYBL circuit, and he will be entering his senior year in high school next season at Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee.
Kager is one of the top-ranked high school forwards in the country, and is considered a top-five recruit in Wisconsin. Kon was a highly-touted recruit in his own right, spurning offers from other top college programs such as Wisconsin, Virginia, Notre Dame, Alabama, USC and Marquette to join Duke.
Whether or not Kager eventually commits to Duke is another story. But there sure is some history there that could push him in that direction. Kon spent one season playing for the Blue Devils before declaring for the NBA Draft. He was the No. 3 overall pick and turned in a sensational year albeit losing out on the Rookie of the Year race to Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg.
Kon appeared in 81 out of 82 games as a rookie, at a little over 31 minutes per game. He averaged 18.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists with splits of 47.5 percent shooting from the field, 42.5 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 86.3 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
