Knicks’ OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges get hero’s welcome at MetLife Stadium World Cup game

The New York Knicks are still basking in the glow of their recent NBA championship win over the San Antonio Spurs in five games. The Knicks have a parade scheduled for later this week in Manhattan, but that hasn’t stopped the team from getting the celebration underway already.

Recently, Knicks players Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, and Deuce McBride were in attendance for a World Cup game between France and Senegal at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Earlier this week, various members of the Knicks have appeared on talk shows throughout the city, including Good Morning America, The Tonight Show, and many others.

Anunoby played a huge role in the Knicks’ comeback in Game 4 against the Spurs, scoring 33 points, including the game-winning tip-in basket in the final seconds, to help New York pull off the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history in go up 3-1 in the series.

The Knicks would go on to rally once again, this time from a 16-point deficit, in Game 5 in San Antonio to knock off a Spurs team that was clearly overwhelmed by the big moments in this series.

New York now sits atop the NBA mountain for the first time in 53 years, having turned from laughingstock into champion in the four years since Jalen Brunson’s arrival back in 2022.

Making matters even better for New York is the fact that the Knicks are slated to bring back almost their entire core of players next season, although Mitchell Robinson and Landry Shamet will be among the key free agents for the team to try to re-sign.

In any case, the Knicks are set to continue the celebration on Thursday with a parade through the streets of Manhattan.
