Knicks blast 76ers in Game 4 behind record-tying 3-point explosion
On Sunday, the New York Knicks steamrolled their way into the Eastern Conference Finals for a second straight year with a dominant 144-114 road win over the Philadelphia 76ers, completing a series sweep of their second round matchup. The Knicks took control of this game from essentially the opening tip, and the story throughout the game was New York’s scorching shooting from beyond the arc.
On the afternoon, the Knicks shot an unbelievable 25-44 from beyond the arc, which tied an NBA playoff record, per Stefan Bondy of the New York Post on X, formerly Twitter. The Knicks also hit 11 of those threes in the first quarter alone, with Deuce McBride and Landry Shamet catching fire early to seemingly immediately put New York up by double digits.
It seems like another lifetime now, but the Knicks were up against the ropes at one point in this postseason after going down 2-1 against the Atlanta Hawks in their first round playoff series, with Game 4 on the road. However, New York responded by winning that game in dominant fashion, and have now in total won seven straight playoff games, six of which were by double figures.
Making matters more impressive for the Knicks is that they played the last two games on the road and without OG Anunoby, who is dealing with a hamstring strain, although the “road” designation should probably come with a major caveat considering the amount of New York fans that packed the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.
The Knicks will now have some well-earned time off before they kick off the Eastern Conference Finals against either the Detroit Pistons or the Cleveland Cavaliers. Detroit currently leads that series 2-1, with Game 4 coming up on Monday night in Cleveland.
