Kings rumors: Time to fire up Domantas Sabonis trade machine again

The Sacramento Kings have certainly been feeling it during the NBA Finals with former coach Mike Brown leading the New York Knicks and former point guard De’Aaron Fox helping pace the San Antonio Spurs. And now it’s possible that All-Star big man Domantas Sabonis is the next to potentially achieve success elsewhere if recent trade rumors are to be believed.

The Kings are expected to put Domantas Sabonis on the trade block this offseason, as per NBA insider Jake L. Fischer. He will join other players such as Giannis Antetokounmpo and Ja Morant as the biggest names on the trade market.

“Sacramento is known to be looking to shed some significant salary if it can this offseason and seems like to field more interest in Sabonis than other veterans,” Fischer reports.

The Kings are potentially headed for a rebuild this offseason, and Sabonis has been a player who has seen his name come in trade rumors for the past couple of seasons. The team ultimately decided on hanging on to him at the deadline this past year.

The three-time All-Star had his year cut short due to season-ending knee surgery in February, but when healthy he’s still one of the top double-double threats in the NBA.

Although he was limited to only 19 games, he still averaged 15.8 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting 54.3 percent from the field and 72.7 percent from the 3-point line. Prior to last year, he had led the league in rebounding in three straight seasons from 2022-2025. He can certainly boost a team and if he is traded, he could be the next to achieve success upon getting out of Sacramento.
