Kevin Durant launches foul-mouthed tirade at fan wearing his jersey as heated exchange inspires historic night

Kevin Durant was involved in a heated altercation with a courtside fan as the Houston Rockets ended the Detroit Pistons’ four-game winning streak with on Friday night.

The two-time NBA champion scored a team-high 32 points in the hard-fought 111-104 victory, and added seven rebounds and three assists in 40 minutes on the floor.

Houston’s 37-year-old superstar also made himself the villain of the piece as the Rockets picked up their fourth win in five games.

In a heated, high-stakes primetime contest, the trash talk began from tip-off and things escalated when Durant stared down his opponents’ bench after hitting a corner three.

As the game went on the 17-year NBA veteran — who once riled fans with a controversial all-time starting five — set his sights on those sitting courtside in Detroit.

In the second quarter, between free throws, Durant started chirping a spectator inside Little Caesars Arena and his words were captured on the TV broadcast.

“You can suck my (expletive), my boy. You’re a grown man. Grown man on my (expletive) all night,” he said.

Later in the game, Durant launched another foul-mouthed tirade at a Pistons fan who had turned up in his Brooklyn Nets jersey.

Walking over to the group sitting in the front row, he began by telling them: “You can’t do s***.”

‘The Slim Reaper’ took issue with the criticism they were offering ‘real players’.

“Who the f*** you talking to mother******? What would you do out here? You can’t do s. Watch your ****ing mouth,” he appeared to say, in a video that has been viewed thousands of times on social media.

“In front of me you can’t do that, especially in front of my team I don’t accept that, if you talking s*** about real players, it don’t make sense, this basketball court is sacred to me.”

When the fan tried to apologize, Durant went in even harder.

He continued: “It just don’t make sense to me, that’s why I’m correcting you, and then when I explain it to you… you look kinda stupid.

“Don’t apologize… I’m just telling you how I am about basketball — that’s how much I care about it.”

That exchange, and the constant jawing, might well have contributed to another historic night on the court for the Rockets star.

Kevin Durant close to cracking historic NBA top 10

Having recently passed Dirk Nowitzki — who has refused to close the door on coaching — for sixth on the NBA’s career scoring list, on Friday night, Durant moved up the NBA’s all-time three-pointers list too.

He converted five shots from beyond the arc, and moved ahead of Jason Terry into 11th, with an impressive 2286 three-pointers across his career.

Durant is now in touching distance of cracking the top 10.

He is chasing the legendary Vince Carter, who occupies that spot, with 2,290 threes.

The Rockets star is just four behind, and could break into the top 10 before January concludes.

He is also tipped to land his 16th career All-Star selection in the coming days.

Durant’s main focus, though, remains on building momentum for his team.

“We just stayed poised,” he said of the win over Detroit.

“We’ve got a great coaching staff, great training staff.

“They keep me ready. They keep me engaged, mentally and physically.”
