Jerry Jones hatches Taylor Swift plan as major schedule change hands NFL record breaking Thanksgiving broadcast

Watch out Travis Kelce, Jerry Jones is riding in on his horse for Taylor Swift in Dallas…..Texas style.

Ahead of the blockbuster Thanksgiving Day NFL clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T stadium, the Cowboys owner has already made plans clear for one of the world’s biggest music stars.

In a radio interview with 105.3 The Fan last month, the 83-year-old proclaimed his fandom for the fiancée of Chiefs star tight end Kelce.

“I don’t want to do anything that would jump the gun, but we would have an elaborate seat for her if she should attend the game,” Jones told 105.3 The Fan back in October.

“Ain’t nobody a bigger fan of Taylor Swift than I am, but more importantly we all are.

“I appreciate, by and through her Kansas City connection there, the kind of interest that she has and that she has brought to the NFL. I can’t get enough of Taylor Swift.”

Since Swift began dating all-time great Kelce back in 2023 – which Chiefs coach Andy Reid claimed some credit for – the NFL has seen a surge in popularity from ‘Swifties’ as they have tuned into Kansas City coverage in the hope of spotting their favorite artist.

Rises in social media interactions, Kelce’s jersey salesskyrocketing by over 400 percent, and the Chiefs’ own social media following growing by over 200,000 in the days following her first appearance at the iconic Arrowhead Stadium has made Swift one of the most influential NFL figures, despite never having played a single down.

Even Super Bowl LVIII between the Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers – which Patrick Mahomes, Kelce and co won – saw a significant uplift in women’s viewership, with a 24 percent jump in 18-to-24-year-old women tuning in attributed to the “Taylor Swift Effect”, which also helped set a record 123.7 million average viewers on the night.

There is perhaps nobody more knowledgeable than Jones on how the NFL – and the Cowboys – are a spectacle that rakes in a lot of money.

Despite having not won a Super Bowl title in three decades, the Cowboys franchise is the most valuable in all of American sports, worth around 13 billion dollars.

Therefore, it is no surprise that Jones would go to lengths for Swift, should she be in attendance, with his suite at AT&Stadium, always filled with high-profile figures across an array of industries.

However, Kelce and the Chiefs have quite the win record when she is in attendance, with the 13-year NFL veteran more often than not tending to play well with his partner present.

The 5-5-1 Cowboys need a Turkey Day victory to further close the gap between them and the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles (8-3) in the divisional standings, whilst the Chiefs’ playoff hopes may yet hinge on the outcome of this heavyweight clash.

Dallas, spearheaded by Dak Prescott who passed Tony Romo to become the franchise’s all-time passing yards leader, enter the contest with confidence after defeating the reigning Super Bowl champions in an epic Week 12 comeback victory.

NFL announced major schedule change

With the clash between these two NFL powerhouses already touted to break viewership records on Thanksgiving, should Swift be in attendance, this has the potential to put up numbers never seen before on the holidays.

The Cowboys – who play annually on Thanksgiving, as do the Detroit Lions, with all six teams involved set to wear a commemorative jersey patch during the games – have seen a slight change to their schedule in 2025, though.

This comes after the subtle change of timing to the Thanksgiving slate of games, with the early kickoff between the Lions and the Green Bay Packers being pushed back by 30 minutes.

Instead of a slot of a 12:30 p.m. ET kickoff that has been a staple for the last 42 years, the Lions’ contest will now begin at 1:00 p.m. ET.

The NFL has sought to align the Thanksgiving schedule timings with that of a typical Sunday slate, whilst it also benefits football fans on the West Coast who will get to tune in from 10 a.m. PT instead of 9:30 a.m. PT.

“One little small change, we’re probably going to move from a 12:30 Eastern start to 1:00. We’ll go back to the traditional windows,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said on the Pat McAfee Show back in April.

“So they’ll be 1, roll right into Dallas, and then roll into the primetime.”

Following the Chiefs-Cowboys clash at its routine time of 9:30 p.m. ET, the game will roll right into that of the AFC North rivalry game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Baltimore Ravens at 8:20 p.m. ET.
