Jaxson Dart’s prayers answered as Giants-linked $157m wideout issues defiant come-and-get-me plea
Veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs remains a free agent just two weeks away from the start of training camps.
Diggs, who was released by the New England Patriots earlier this offseason, was an integral part of their run to Super Bowl LX.

While they fell short at the final hurdle, he formed quite the partnership with Drake Maye, but finds himself still hunting his new team.
Diggs didn’t hold back when discussing his value on the open market, despite the obvious lack of interest.
“My opinion, I can compete with anybody,” Diggs said on YouTube channel.
“But take those [top wide receivers] as your 1s, right? You can’t name a No.2 better than me.
“There’s not a number two on a team — let’s presumably give people the credit and just say, ‘Okay, you want to take the number one spot away.’
“Name your number two receiver right now, and tell me how much he makes, and then my last question is: Is he better than me?”
Diggs finished 2025 with a team-leading 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns.
Giants urged to sign Diggs
The New York Giants have Malik Nabers as their No.1 wide receiver, but he is recovering from an ACL injury and could miss time.
They have strengthened the position this offseason, drafting Malachi Fields in the third round, and signing Odell Beckham Jr. and JuJu Smith-Schuster.
It’s hard to ignore that Diggs was an important part of Maye’s development last season, and that could translate to the Giants and Jaxson Dart.

“A young quarterback benefits from having a reliable, experienced receiver who wins consistently on short and intermediate routes,” Wendell Ferreira of A to Z Sports wrote.
“That’s the core of the argument for bringing Diggs to New York. It’s not a long-term solution, and the Giants probably wouldn’t need it to be one if Malik Nabers returns healthy.
“But as a short-term fix for a real problem, Diggs offers a reasonable solution.”
Having traded up – and back into the first round – to take Dart in 2025, the Giants benched Russell Wilson and turned to the Ole Miss quarterback after an 0-3 start.
In 12 starts, the rookie threw for 2,272 yards with 15 touchdowns and five interceptions while leading the Giants to four wins.
With pressure mounting to help Dart develop in the unforgiving New York atmosphere, and protect the offense while Nabers recovers, the front office might have no choice but to make a move.

Ultimately, Diggs’ willingness to accept a No.2 role could be the ticket that finally sparks a market for his services.
If New York decides to pull the trigger on the veteran, he will get an immediate opportunity to back up his bold claims.
If not, Diggs faces the very real prospect of watching training camps kick off from home while waiting for a regular-season injury to create a vacancy elsewhere.
