Jarrett Allen isn’t losing trust in Cavs’ gameplan despite Josh Hart’s big Game 2
Jarrett Allen remains supportive of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ defensive approach towards New York Knicks guard Josh Hart despite his 26 points in Game 2 on Thursday night.
Cleveland tried testing Hart’s ability to shoot the 3-ball on high efficiency, a trait he tends to be streaky with. He was unable to get it going in Game 1 but bounced back in strong fashion in Game 2.
Hart made five triples on 11 attempts, being open on several occasions. Allen reflected on the Cavaliers’ loss after the game, understanding that nights like those happen. Even with Hart’s success, he maintains trust in Kenny Atkinson’s approach to Cleveland guarding Hart on defense.
“He’s an NBA player, he’s going to make three-pointers. Just have to follow the statistics, have to follow the coach’s trust and intuition. Kudos to him for changing the game and having an impact in a different way,” Allen said.

How Jarrett Allen, Cavaliers played against Knicks
Jarrett Allen and the Cavaliers have been successful with their first East Finals berth since 2018. However, their 2-0 series deficit against the Knicks will prove to be a tall task to come back from.
Cleveland tried to get off to a good start in Game 2 and shake off the stench of their Game 1 collapse. Despite their efforts, New York flourished with multiple runs that included an 18-0 stretch that paved the way for the hosts to defend homecourt in the first two games of the series.
Four players scored in double-digits for Cleveland in the loss, including Allen. He finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks on 5-of-10 shooting overall. Donovan Mitchell led the attack with 26 points and four rebounds, James Harden came next with 18 points and six rebounds, while Evan Mobley provided 14 points and six rebounds.
The Cavaliers hope to avoid a 3-0 series lead when they return home to host the Knicks. Game 3 of the East Finals will happen on May 23 at 8 p.m. ET.
