Jalen Duren exits Game 6 vs. Magic with hand injury
The Detroit Pistons came into Game 6 against the Orlando Magic looking to stave off elimination and force a Game 7 at home. But more pressing concerns came in the third quarter of Game 6 as Pistons center Jalen Duren exited the game due to a hand injury.
However, by the time the fourth quarter of Game 6 began, Jalen Duren had returned from the locker room to rejoin the Pistons’ bench for the final stretch against the Magic. He had not yet returned to the game though. As of publication, the Pistons had battled back from a near 20-point deficit to get back into the game with their season on the line.
At the time of the injury, Duren had eight points, eight rebounds and one assists in 24 minutes of play. He was shooting 4-of-6 from the field.
During the regular season, Duren had been a crucial player amid the Pistons’ run to the top of the Eastern Conference standings. He earned his first career All-Star selection while playing in 70 games at a little over 28 minutes per game.
He averaged a career-high 19.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists with splits of 65 percent shooting from the field and 74.7 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
Duren’s overall production had dropped though during the playoffs thus far. Through the Pistons’ first five games of the postseason, he was averaging 10.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.8 blocked shots with splits of 50 percent shooting from the field and 76.5 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
If the Pistons do force a Game 7, it would be on Sunday in Detroit.
