IPL 2026: SRH vs RR, Eliminator - Top player battles to watch out for
The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) take on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Eliminator of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur.
This is a do-or-die clash for both teams as the loser will be eliminated from the tournament. The two teams have faced each other twice in the league stage, both of which were won by the Sunrisers.
Both teams come into this clash on the back of dominant victories and would be looking to extend that momentum further and carry it to Qualifier 2.
Here are 3 key player battles for SRH vs RR, Eliminator, IPL 2026:
3) Ishan Kishan vs Nandre Burger
Ishan Kishan has had a brilliant season with the bat for the team in orange. Making number 3 his home, the southpaw has scored 569 runs at a blistering strike rate of 178.36, chipping in with scores all season and playing vital knocks at number 3. He has excelled both at piling on runs after blistering starts from the openers and stabilising the innings in times of collapse.
The responsibility of stopping him would fall on the shoulders of Nandre Burger. The South African seamer made his return to the team against the Mumbai Indians in the final fixture of the season, recording figures of 2 for 43. He has picked up 11 wickets in 11 games in the 2026 season and has been part of a stable support cast for the Royals in the bowling department.
2) Abhishek Sharma vs Jofra Archer
Abhishek Sharma has once again had a brilliant season for the Sunrisers with the bat. The southpaw, coming off a dismal T20 World Cup campaign, cemented his place as one of India's most exciting openers, scoring 563 runs at a blistering strike rate of 206.22. He has scored four half-centuries and one century, and scored a brilliant 57 when these two sides met in Jaipur as SRH chased down a sizeable 229.
Up against him from the get-go would be the fiery Jofra Archer, who has bowled with pace and accuracy in fearsome fashion in 2026. He has been the Royals' premier strike bowler, picking up 21 wickets at an economy of 8.76. Of his 21 scalps, 11 have come in the powerplay. He removed Abhishek with the first ball of the game when these two sides met in Hyderabad earlier in the season.
1) Vaibhav Sooryavanshi vs Pat Cummins
No one has quite taken the IPL by storm the way Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has. The 15-year-old is having a brilliant sophomore year in the tournament, having amassed 583 runs at a blistering strike rate of 232.27, and has become the Royals' mainstay with the bat. He scored a 36-ball century when these two sides met in Jaipur.
The young southpaw has taken some of the game's finest bowlers to the cleaners, and keeping this in mind, he will be up against Sunrisers skipper Pat Cummins. The Aussie seamer has been a reliable all-phase bowler, with eight wickets in the seven games he has played, bowling at an economy of 8.67. Cummins was famously hit for six off the first ball he bowled to Sooryavanshi in IPL 2026.
