Captained by Shubman Gill and with Jos Buttler, Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada also in the team, the Titans head into the Tuesday’s opening playoff match in the best form of any of the top four.
The loser of Qualifier 1 will take on the winner of Wednesday’s Eliminator for the second place in the final, with Hyderabad and Rajasthan competing for that place in Qualifier 2.
The Sunrisers, coached by Daniel Vettori and captained by Pat Cummins, lost three of their opening four games of the campaign but won eight of their remaining 10 to book their playoffs, aided by the blockbuster hitting of Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan.
Kumar Sangakkara’s Rajasthan Royals booked their ticket to the play offs on the penultimate day of the league stage campaign, with captain Riyan Parag, leading the likes of 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, as well as Ravindra Jadeja, Jofra Archer and Yashasvi Jaiswal to the play offs in their bid for a first IPL since the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2008.
