Hurricanes’ Andrei Svechnikov gets brutally honest on playing in Vegas ahead of Game 3
The Stanley Cup Final is knotted up at 1 game apiece, heading into a pivotal Game 3. The series now moves to Vegas, as the Golden Knights will get to play at home. Vegas and the Carolina Hurricanes each won a game while playing in North Carolina.
Hurricanes winger Andrei Svechnikov knows it won’t be easy now to win on the road.
“It’s going to be hard,” Svechnikov said, per NHL.com. “We’re going to be playing in a different atmosphere. But we’ve been there. We know how to play on the road. It’s going to be exciting to play in Vegas.”
Game 3 and Game 4 will be in Vegas. The Hurricanes can ill-afford to lose both games. If that happens, Carolina will be on the brink of elimination.
“It’s obviously a new series, a five-game series now,” Hurricanes defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere said. “Obviously a lot of emotions throughout the games too. For almost 50 minutes there it’s kind of low, and then kind of even, then really high, then low again, and then high. It’s been a roller coaster, for sure.”
Carolina is in the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2006. The Hurricanes players are enjoying the ride.
“The louder it gets, the more quiet you get in your own little bubble and just focusing on what you’ve got to do to try to execute,” Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen said. “And we can talk about how fun it is, right? It’s a special time of year, and it’s a really cool opportunity and experience that we all get to have.
“If we weren’t enjoying it, as well, it would be a big shame, right?”
Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final is Saturday night. The puck drops at 8:00 ET.
