How Commanders’ Jayden Daniels really feels if Brandon Aiyuk or Stefon Diggs aren’t acquired

The Washington Commanders are welcoming quarterback Jayden Daniels back to their offense in 2026. Upon his return, many have speculated that the franchise could add a big name receiver such as Brandon Aiyuk or Stefon Diggs.

But thus far, the Commanders haven’t dug too deep into the free agency well. That doesn’t bother Daniels though, who has no issue with the receiver room Washington currently has assembled, via John Keim of ESPN.

“I’m excited with the guys we have in the room,” Daniels said.

Terry McLaurin remains the Commanders’ unquestioned WR1. While last season was a down year for everyone in Washington, McLaurin entered the season coming off of five-straight years with 1,000+ yards. Daniels will continue looking his way early and often.

But beyond McLaurin, the rest of Washington’s passing attack is a question mark. Deebo Samiel led the team with 727 yards and five touchdowns in 2025, but he is currently a free agent. No other Commanders receiver gained more than 300 yards.

The franchise did use their third-round pick on Antonio Williams of Clemson. He should be expected to take on a sizable role. Furthermore, players like Treylon Burks and Dynami Brown will have an opportunity to make an impact.

On paper at least, the Commanders would look much more explosive with Diggs or Aiyuk. Opposing defenses wouldn’t be able to focus on McLaurin, and Daniels’ passing opportunities would become much more dynamic.

But the Commanders would need to find a deal that works, and that may not be possible. If that is the case, Daniels is ready to rock with the receiver corps Washington has already assembled.
