Harry Kane told to snub new Bayern Munich contract but shouldn’t return to break Alan Shearer’s record either
Harry Kane has been told to reject a new contract at Bayern Munich but also not return to the Premier League.
That is because Ally McCoist would like to see the England captain in Spain.

Kane left Tottenham Hotspur for a £100million move to Germany and Bayern Munich in August 2023, where he has thrived and become a huge fans’ favourite.
His contract with the Bundesliga giants expires in 2027.
There have been suggestions that Kane will return to the Premier League to break Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record.
He is currently 47 goals behind Shearer’s longstanding record of 260.
However, the club’s sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed talks are now taking place to extend Kane’s time in Bavaria.
Speaking at a Bundesliga event, he said: “We’re talking to Harry, we’re talking.
“Everyone knows at some point a decision has to be made.”
But McCoist would like to see him abandon that and go to Spain with Barcelona.
Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast, McCoist responded to the news that Kane was in contract talks, and he said: “Al [Shearer] will be ecstatic. Knowing him as I do, he will be delighted.
“I am a little bit disappointed he’s not moved to Spain. I would have loved to see him have a go at Barcelona for a couple of years.

“You want to see the best players back in our country playing at the top level, so that is an element of disappointment, but I am actually delighted for Harry Kane for the way he’s went over there, and for the way he’s performed, and for the way he’s put the ball in the back of the net.
“There is just a little bit of me that wouldn’t have minded seeing him in Spain for a couple of years.”
Jeff Stelling then added why he thinks the Bayern move was good.
He said: “I understand it, though, he’s loving life in Munich, and he’s scoring a load of goals. If he came back to this country, where would his options be?
talkSPORT early morning breakfast host Katie Shanahan suggested a Premier League giant… Manchester United.
And Stelling wasn’t totally against the idea, but he feels Kane should stay put.
“Maybe, that would be a decent option. But he’s out of the media spotlight and doesn’t have to answer 1,000 reporters every time he sneezes.”
Would Barcelona make a move?
The LaLiga giants currently have Robert Lewandowski up front, with the Polish international still scoring for fun.
Of course, he is 37 and there are rumours this could be his last season with Barca.
And reports do indicate that one of the world’s biggest clubs would be keen to make a move for Kane to replace Lewandowski.
As it stands, Kane has a £57million release clause in his contract, which becomes active in the summer.
So, if the England skipper wasn’t to sign this new deal, then you can see Barcelona making a move at that price.

What has Kane said?
The 32-year-old has made it clear that he was more than willing to engage in contract talks.
Earlier this month, he indicated that he was very much keen on staying in Munich.
He said: “Yeah, it is possible for sure. 100 per cent. These are conversations that need to be held, like I spoke on before the winter break as well.
“And I am sure they will happen, but my focus right now is on this season. There is a big opportunity. There is no place I’d rather be right now.”
He also dismissed a return to the Premier League.
In October 2025, he said: “In terms of the Premier League, I don’t know.
“If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back.
“Now I have been there a couple of years I would probably say that has gone down a little bit, but I wouldn’t say I would never go back.”
