‘Gutted’- Devastated Jack Grealish confirms his season is over after undergoing surgery
Jack Grealish has revealed he is ‘gutted’ in a post confirming his season is over after undergoing surgery on a foot stress fracture.
The 30-year-old, who is on a season-long loan at the Toffees from Manchester City, will now definitively miss the World Cup.

The 39-cap England international sustained a stress fracture in his foot against his old club, Aston Villa, on Sunday, January 18.
That was Grealish’s 22nd appearance for Everton across all competitions, having scored twice and registered six assists.
However, talkSPORT revealed two days after David Moyes’ men won at Villa Park that Grealish may miss the rest of the season.
The player himself has now confirmed the news in an emotional message from his hospital bed following successful surgery.
Grealish confirms his season is over
“Didn’t want the season to end like this, but that’s football, gutted,” Grealish wrote in a lengthy post on Instagram.
“Surgery done and now all focus on getting back fit. I know for sure I will come back fitter, stronger and better than before.
“The support I’ve had since coming to this unbelievable club has meant the world to me.
“The staff, my teammates and especially the fans have been incredible, and I absolutely love representing this club.
“I’ll be backing the lads all the way and doing everything I can to get back as soon as possible. Thank you again for all the love; it means so much. UTFT.”

Grealish’s post received plenty of support from across the Premier League, including from his former Man City teammate Erling Haaland.
England internationals Declan Rice, Jordan Henderson, Morgan Rogers, and Harry Maguire all paid tribute in the comments as well.
Grealish’s injury has now ended the maverick’s faint hopes of forcing his way into Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad this summer.
The winger was left out of Gareth Southgate‘s squad for Euro 2024, having been part of the group in Qatar four years ago.
He returned to the England fold under Three Lions interim head coach Lee Carsley, with his last cap coming in October 2024.
However, a mixture of his own fitness issues and the form of others in his position has meant Grealish hasn’t earned a call-up under Tuchel.

Tuchel insisted ‘the door remained open’ for Grealish in October after the ex-Villa captain made an impressive start to life on loan.
But the German now has one less selection headache to make when finalising his picks for the travelling World Cup squad this summer.
Grealish’s announcement came weeks after Everton boss Moyes admitted it was a ‘big blow’ to lose the English winger.
“It’s a big blow because he’s been hugely important to us since the start of the season, he’s played a big part in the team,” Moyes said.
“Look, we’ve had a few injuries, but this is a big blow to us.
“We’re in close contact with Manchester City, so we’ll see how that works as we go along, and as we get more decisions from the specialists.”
