Giants’ catcher Patrick Bailey drops truth bomb after clutch home run vs. Dodgers

Patrick Bailey was at the center of the San Francisco Giants-Los Angeles Dodgers rivalry on Wednesday night, for all the right reasons, after his three-run home run in the seventh inning. The Giants’ catcher ensured that his team won their series against their rivals by winning the second game, and they are looking for a sweep on Thursday afternoon. Bailey spoke glowingly about his Giants teammates after Wednesday night’s win, and outlined why they are becoming successful, via MLB.com.

“A homer’s a homer. Happy to get the job done. Just so thankful and blessed to be here. It’s a lot more fun when you win, we’ve been winning a little bit more,” Bailey said. “We’ve got a great group of guys here, we’ve been showing up every day, working hard before the games. Play hard. It’s nice to kind of get the ball rolling our way a little bit.”

The Giants faced a tall task when they took the field for Game 2 of their series against the Dodgers. Shohei Ohtani was on the mound for the Dodgers, and he performed well with six scoreless innings, but the Giants’ pitching staff and defense hung in there long enough for Bailey to be the hero.

The beauty of baseball is that it’s a long season, and the Giants have plenty of time to get back in the race. With their confidence at an all-time high after beating the Dodgers in the first two games, Patrick Bailey and his teammates could be starting to trend towards a winning streak.
