Genesis Scottish Open 2026 betting preview
We’re in the middle of a sensational summer of sport and now golf joins the party with two huge events either side of the border.
While next week’s Open Championship at Royal Birkdale is the undoubted high point, this week’s Genesis Scottish Open also provides a great opportunity to see some of the world’s very best battle it out for glory on UK turf.
As this event is co-sanctioned, LIV players with DP World Tour membership are also eligible and that means we get stars such as Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton teeing it up alongside Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and a host of other big names.

The field includes last year’s surprise winner Chris Gotterup although a repeat win wouldn’t raise eyebrows this time.
The American is coming in off his third win of the season after he landed last week’s John Deere Classic in Illinois.
The event is once again played at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick.
It’s a par 70 measuring 7,237 yards and features three Par 3s and three Par 5s.
Wind can play a big factor in determining the winning score – Xander Schauffele took the title with -7 in 2022 but since then it’s been -15, -18 and -15.
Genesis Scottish Open 2026 betting tips
Here are some key betting tips and insights for the Genesis Scottish Open 2026.
Robert MacIntyre to win again
Robert MacIntyre loves coming back to Scotland and that’s not just because, at heart, he’s a bit of a home boy.
The man from Oban has made a habit of thrilling the local crowds in recent years and in the last four editions of this event he has a first and a second.
In 2023, Rory McIlroy pipped him via two closing birdies but a year later MacIntyre realised the dream of winning his home Open by holing a 22-footer at the last to take the title by a shot from Adam Scott.
Last October the left-hander won another high-profile event in Scotland, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, so he really does rise to the occasion on home links turf.
A top 10 at the Travelers Championship on his latest PGA Tour start a couple of weeks ago looks perfect prep
Back Robert MacIntyre to win at 35/1 (1/4 odds, 5 places) with Betfred
Rory McIlroy to beat Scottie Scheffler in match bet
Rory McIlroy v Scottie Scheffler looks an intriguing match bet and, as he’s the clear 6/5 underdog with bet365, I’ll side with Rory at the prices.
McIlroy has finished second, fourth and first in the last three editions of this event which gives him an advantage over Scheffer’s course form of 8-3-MC-12.
Scheffler defends his Open crown next week and that may be a slight distraction to his performance here given the extra duties he’ll have to fulfil with the R&A.
McIlroy is well rested and, on this course, is worth a bet to win their 72-hole match.
Back Rory McIlroy to beat Scottie Scheffler at 6/5 with bet365
Nicolai Hojgaard for Top 10
Nicolai Hojgaard is a big fan of links golf and The Renaissance Club in particular after finishing fourth here last year and sixth in 2023.
A two-time runner-up on the PGA Tour this season – March’s Houston Open and May’s Truist Championship – the Dane closed with a 62 to take 14th at the Travelers Championship on his last start.
Back Nicolai Hojgaard in the Top 10 market at 4/1 with Sky Bet
